Vendor profile
What it is

Blueflame AI is an LLM-agnostic, agentic AI platform purpose-built for private equity, private credit, investment banking, and alternative investment firms. Founded in 2023 and acquired by Datasite in mid-2025, it operates as the AI layer within Datasite's Intelligence Unit. The platform connects internal firm knowledge (CRM, email, shared drives, investment memos, fund documents) with external data sources and routes tasks across multiple foundation models to produce institutional-grade outputs. It is not a general-purpose LLM wrapper — it is designed around deal-specific workflows, financial domain reasoning, and the compliance requirements of alternative investment managers.

Core functionality

Blueprint workflows — multi-step, multi-model automations that chain prompts, datasets, and actions to produce repeatable outputs (IC memos, CIM analyses, LP briefings, comparable company analyses, earnings summaries, DDQ responses). Natural language search across connected data sources including CRMs, data rooms, shared drives, and inboxes. Bidirectional integration: the platform reads and writes back to connected systems (DealCloud, Salesforce, Outlook). Document intelligence: auto-summarizes CIMs, board decks, expert network transcripts, NDAs, LPAs, and purchase agreements, with cited outputs linked to source documents. Agentic content creation embedded in Microsoft Excel (LBO/DCF models, KPI dashboards), PowerPoint (IC decks, CIMs), and Word. Mobile app (iOS and Android, including tablet) with SSO, Blueprint execution, file chat, and Face ID authentication. Full audit trail logged for every user interaction.

AI & data capabilities

LLM-agnostic multi-model orchestration across Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok — the agentic framework auto-selects the best model per task or lets clients specify. Every response includes citations linked to source documents. No public REST API or developer API documented for external access. MCP support is active and a strategic priority: Blueflame has implemented MCP connectors enabling external AI clients (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to query live Datasite VDR content via the Datasite MCP server, with Blueflame AI powering the underlying semantic search and enforcing existing permission controls. Blueflame also operates its own managed MCP server for connecting enterprise data systems — Snowflake is live as of May 2026, with Notion and HubSpot connectors in development. Custom MCP servers can wrap clients' internal secure systems and connect them to Blueflame. MCP is framed as a firm's core integration architecture going forward.

Pricing

Not publicly disclosed. Custom enterprise contracts only — pricing is tailored based on team size, document volume, and workflow complexity. No free plan or self-serve tiers. Sold via direct enterprise sales with white-glove onboarding. Contact vendor for pricing.

Integrations & ecosystem

Native bidirectional connectors: DealCloud, Salesforce, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Grata, Datasite data rooms (Diligence and Acquire). Additional integrations: Box, Dropbox, iManage, Egnyte, Cobalt, S&P Capital IQ, PitchBook, Perplexity, Slack, Teams, Google News, HubSpot. Snowflake connected via managed MCP server (May 2026). Outputs exportable to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF. Platform can push updates directly into connected CRM and deal management systems. MCP library expanding to additional enterprise systems.

Security & compliance

SOC 2 Type II certified. GDPR, CCPA, and GLBA compliant. Encryption at rest and in transit. Role-based access controls (RBAC) and MFA. Full audit trail of all user activity for compliance reviews and internal governance. Client data is never used to train AI models and is never shared across tenants. Mobile app includes MDM/MAM support, conditional access policies, and remote wipe. Every AI response includes source citations for auditability.

Company background

Founded 2023, headquartered in New York, NY (1370 Broadway). Co-founded by Raj Bakhru (CEO, CFA, CISSP — formerly Chief Strategy Officer and founder of Aponix cybersecurity division at ACA Group; prior quant developer at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Highbridge, and Kepos Capital) and Henry Lindemann (Co-founder, business development background at Kela, Eze Software Group, and ConvergEx Group). CTO is Ed Chu, former CTO and founding partner at Kepos Capital and prior Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Raised $5M in a Series A round (June 2024) at a reported $50M valuation; investor included Kareya. Acquired by Datasite in June–July 2025 (sources vary slightly on close date); Blueflame now operates within Datasite's Intelligence Unit, still led by Raj Bakhru. At time of Series A, served 40+ clients including CFI Partners, Charlesbank, Great Hill Partners, Eagle Health Investments, TJC, Lightyear Capital, and Nonantum Capital. Post-acquisition, Datasite states Blueflame serves firms managing over $25 trillion in combined AUM.

VC / GE fit

Strong. Blueflame is built precisely for the workflows a growth equity firm runs daily: deal sourcing, sector research, diligence document analysis, IC memo generation, portfolio monitoring, and LP reporting. The Blueprint automation layer directly addresses high-volume, repeatable analytical tasks (CIM analysis, expert network transcript synthesis, risk factor extraction) that consume junior and senior team time. Bidirectional CRM integration (DealCloud, Salesforce) means deal data flows in and out without manual re-entry. The active MCP buildout — Datasite VDR connectivity live, Snowflake live, more connectors in progress — aligns with a firm's AI-native firm mandate and enables Blueflame to sit as the orchestration layer across a firm's data stack. The Datasite acquisition adds VDR-native AI access, which is directly relevant for diligence workflows. Primary caution: the acquisition introduces roadmap dependency on Datasite's priorities, and pricing/contract terms are opaque. Verify whether the standalone Blueflame platform remains available independently of Datasite VDR products.

Limitations

No publicly available REST API or developer-facing API docs — external programmatic access is limited to MCP connectors rather than a full API surface. Pricing is fully opaque; requires direct sales engagement with no self-serve or trial option. Acquisition by Datasite introduces platform roadmap risk — product direction now tied to a larger corporate parent's priorities. Standalone value depends heavily on connecting internal firm data; setup complexity requires IT coordination and data integration work. Not designed for firms outside alternatives/private markets. Native integration breadth, while growing, still relies on MCP and API work for some system connections.
